UC: My friend that I was going to go to California with over winter break decided that December is no time for a road trip.

PS: Talked to my mom about maybe having my Christmas present be half of a plane ticket to Cali and back and she didn't look at me like I was crazy. Her biggest concern was me affording things. Holy smurf, I think I might be going to Californina.... smile.gif
overly_critical_man
UC: Now I need to convince Blondie's mom not to pay for that half of a plane ticket. Maybe she can ground her again somehow. (Note to self: Incriminate Blondie for innocuous criminal offense)

AF: Feeling old now. Think I got too much money sitting in my savings account doing nothing...got the urge to invest it.

UC: Stock market. UGH.

Yeah, but then I'm basically supporting the death of the Earth. It's too good to be true.

I have a feeling at this point that it's more my dad's decision than my mom's, and if he does what he always does, he'll say yes, even if my mom doesn't want him to. Haha.

And I will gladly take some of that money from your savings account. I'd like to start a retirement fund but between school/Italy/possible Cali trip I'm too broke.

Too late for that, I'm locked into Italy. And really, California would only cost me about a paycheck if I can get my parents to pay for half the plane ticket. Pretty sure that's worth it. smile.gif

PS: So, all of our weekly gallery reviews from my art criticism course are published on our class website/blog. We have comments turned on, but no one had written anything to acknowledge that our stuff is being read...

Until today, when one of the artists responded to my (actually quite scathing) review, with this:

"Hello Chloe,
I wanted to thank you for your extremely well written review of the recent Gallery Crawl. I was especially impressed with your paragraph regarding my exhibition with Peter Johnson at 709 Penn Gallery. Its always great to have positive words written about my work but it is especially gratifying when those words are professionally well crafted and describe the exhibition in a wonderful light. You are an excellent writer. If you ever want to visit my studio feel free to contact me anytime.
All the best,
Thomas Bigatel"

AF: My art career's daily confirmations this week have had a strange correlation with my failure to connect to others

Oh no, actually, he was the one artist in my review that I praised, haha

I just meant the rest of the review was really, really negative...

Not the point really, I'm not trying to cry "waah it's so unfair that nobody wants to go out with me", just saying a lot of that description fits me remarkably well - more so than any other psychological/social "disorder" I've heard of.

My roomie from back home is also a really good influence on me, in terms of documenting travel - I took so many pictures and would have recorded a vlog had I not gotten impatient with my rambling.

Well, he gave me the estimate for a worst case scenario before he opened the engine up and correctly diagnosed it. The timing belt came loose, he thought he might have to re-machine the heads, fix the valves and smurf, but it turned out that nothing was damaged. Got lucky as hell.

PS: Helping my brother look at colleges and get all his stuff done is really fun.

HR: I'm really going to miss him if he goes away to school. And it's making me really sad.

HR: I received a letter in the mail from my parents, reading "We had so much time visiting you - Hope you enjoy this photo!"

Low and behold, enclosed was a photo my parents took of me and my ex

PS: Put together a trip to Vienna and Linz in the space of about 36 hours. Leaving at 0530 hours.

When I can see another country for a weekend for less than 100 USD, I'm feelin' like working for minimum wage all summer was pretty worth it.

Chloe
HR: This is no doubt the worst painting/piece of art I have ever created, and I'm ashamed to think it's mine and that I've been trying to fix it for as long as I have

Related PS/HR: Cried last night for the first time in at least ten years - in retrospect it's funny how bad at it I was, I couldn't hold it out for more than ten seconds at a time before the feeling completely passed and I'd have to start building it up again

PS/HR: Chopped off most of my hair today again, freaked out a little, then when to studio and attacked my canvas for two straight hours

PS: I think I made it a little better? Maybe?

UC: Resulting headache

AF: I think I'm going through one of those crazed emotional must-figure-life-out things

PS: I've never sang better in my life than I did tonight at my choir concert. I'm on cloud nine.

UC: Parents took me to dinner afterward and my mom mentioned how my ex was home for the weekend (according to his facebook) and was surprised he wasn't there. Really? So. Awkward.
