I actually grew up in several small towns, the smallest of which is Estill Springs, TN (2,152). I was born in Cincinnati (2.1 million).

And I thought you grew up in more rural Nebraska. Not that it makes a difference. Nebraska is a hick state, just like Tennessee. Even if you live in the city, you can be a hick.

I take offense at being called a hick. I'm not ashamed of being from Nebraska, and I am proud to say that my Grandfather was a farmer (He also worked for NASA and was a Marine, so don't even think about talking smurf), but I don't like people telling me that I think a certain way or should act a certain way because of where I'm from. I consider myself a hick and a redneck (quite literally right now). I am proud of it. Just ask the Confederate flag and portraits of Lee and Jackson on my wall. There is nothing wrong with that or being a farmer. That's why the critical part of my post is now bolded.

Hick and redneck have different connotations to me. I take pride in having a redneck streak, however I view "hicks" as lazy, useless, rednecks.
Also, I still don't understand the whole "love the confederacy" thing. Y'all lost, shut up. (Not directed at you, but there are a view people around here who act like it's 1860 dry.gif )

I think they represent idiotic hick culture, I know tons of people I'd consider rednecks (generally, good people), but even the worst of them know it's stupid to drive around with confederate stuff plastered on their belongings.

SO, I know with a large amount of certainty, the level of stupidity possessed by the people driving around with two confederate flags off the back of their pick up truck.

OK, I agree those people are stupid.

Owning a battle flag in general does not though.

In that context it's quite a bit different than how you presented it lol. "I'm a civil war nut, I have stuff related to the civil war, oh hey a confederate flag!" is better than, say, "I consider myself a hick and a redneck, I gots me a confederate flag on the wall".

PS: Today was awesome. Gallery show was a super happy fun time. I'm so glad it happened when it did with the people it did.

Another PS: At the show, one friend in particular that I don't normally get to see that much stuck around for longer than necessary. It was really sweet and supportive and crazy fun having him there.

I think it was referring to that one T-Mobile commercial when the guy's like, "Why is my girlfriend in your five?" and the other one's all like idk. But then she calls, and the ringtone is like, "Secret looooooovers, that's what we are. Forced to hiiiiiiiiiide our love..."

I'd like to agree with that, given my level of failure on the romantic front, but most (certainly not all, but most) worthwhile girls I know do seem willing to give decent guys a chance. I mean, it's not as good a chance as they'd have if they were alcoholic baby-eating douches, but it's a chance.

My problem wasn't that anyone refused me a chance, but that she apparently didn't think I was worth keeping after I poured my heart and soul into her. And yes, then ran off with a douche. (This is a UC/HR.)

So the question is...do girls like this deserve the douches they get? I used to think so, but after my personal experience, I can't just dismiss the girl I loved as a complete bad job; that'd be self-deprecating more than anything. Discuss.
