My problem wasn't that anyone refused me a chance, but that she apparently didn't think I was worth keeping after I poured my heart and soul into her. And yes, then ran off with a douche. (This is a UC/HR.)

So the question is...do girls like this deserve the douches they get? I used to think so, but after my personal experience, I can't just dismiss the girl I loved as a complete bad job; that'd be self-deprecating more than anything. Discuss.

The thing is, they really don't have the perspective that we do. Yes, it's really, really painful to see her pick a douche over you, but I'm sure she doesn't realize it. Eventually she will, and maybe at that time, you'll be waiting and she'll be ready for someone better. Then again, maybe not. Maybe by then you'll have found someone better (although it seems impossible right now). Life's funny that way sometimes. Everyone here is hoping it works out for you, as you deserve. Just try to keep in mind that there are people all around the country who may not have even met you but sincerely care about your well-being and believe you deserve the best.

It's always been sort of a bummer for me when I see a good (nice, funny, etc) guy fall for a total bitch, just because she's pretty and/or happened to give him some kind of attention. But then again, these guys choose to get into and stay in these ridiculous relationships.

So I guess my feelings are that they feel the repercussions of the unfortunate pairing, and if they think that's worth it, then I guess that's their choice.

Still, I wish you the best. I have faith it will all work out.

Also, I feel like this comic somehow fits the subject at hand:

AK_WDB
It's a matter of perspective too. Maybe this guy my ex is dating appears to be nice and funny and "good", but his actions show that he has zero integrity and is a dishonest smurf. But people won't realize that. Same goes for the opposite-gender situation. Anyway, thanks. Good luck to you too.

UC: I've turned another thread emo. Let's get back to typical ADT.

RT: Whenever I cut my fingernails, I end up cutting them all even if I just intended to trim one or two long ones. I guess it's compulsiveness due to playing the piano, even though I haven't played in nearly a month (which is, in turn, a UC).

Girls are often the immature, irrational, and opportunistic sex. We kind of get a bad rap, especially as teenagers.

Ehh to be honest, I tend to believe girls generally have the best intentions in mind, which I can't say for most of us. Then again the girls I'm friendly with are basically just the nice, smart ones, so I'm probably way off if I generalize that to the whole population. Still, I'm not all that high on the decency of most men.

This.

Look, what most of you guys fail to understand is that guys do all the same things you are complaining about. They have unrealistic expectations of what a girl is supposed to look and act like, and are immediately frightened by any signs of intelligence. And, of course, the response to this will be "only douches are like this", etc., but only stupid, worthless girls date assholes. Nice girls exist, but they aren't always the most obvious candidates.

Well... it completely doesn't apply to me. I can't stand girls who aren't smart. Most of my friends really like girls who are as smart or smarter than them (although these are few and far between at my high school, for some reason). Most guys, though... yeah, I could sorta see that.

2. We want to complain by nature whether we have grounds to or not. It's a biological imperative, I'm pretty sure.

Equality? Don't be naïve. Girls are told from a very young age that aggression is bad. It's hard for most to turn back the tides. I'm merely discussing what is, and not what should be.

Edit: When I say "bad", I mean that it is discouraged socially. A sexually aggressive girl is a slut, an athletically aggressive girl is butch. There are a lot of pretty obvious double standards here.
