I really would like to go to SF sometime soon.
QUOTE (Research Monkey @ Jul 9 2010, 08:19 PM)

See the world, it's awesome.
It's also expensive.
Here here. I've been to SF twice. Once was for a 24 hour trip--no hotel, not much spending, and we got there via $50 round-trip bus tickets. The other time was for a full week... but that's because I got funded to present a poster at a conference.
I have way too many facebook friends who are constantly posting pictures of them traveling. Where the heck do they get the time/money to do that?! Do they not have jobs?!
(I think a lot of them just have rich parents =/ or something.)
I have about a year's worth of vacation time saved up.

NOOOOO!!!: Why? Why on earth would anyone put a water heater or any other water drainage pipes in the attic? Say hello to holes in the ceiling.
Actually not so much right now, but the AC drain pipes were leaking and soaking my bedroom ceiling. And dripping conveniently right by my bed. So very annoying.
It's almost stopped now, but it's never fun to deal with. It leaves my ceiling with brownish spots and some weird patterns. And now my ceiling sags. (Actually that's a result of the last incident, but I think it's worse now.)

In part because I know more about how to survive as a burned spy than the writers do, apparently. Or at least a hell of a lot more than they expect their audience to know.

Do you *need* 16 gigs?

Yeah you really don't need more than 8 Gigs even if you're doing stuff like video editing and the like. But if you just *have* to have Crysis running alongside 20 different Firefox windows and a different instance of Winamp for each genre, then yeah man you should upgrade.

Nah, not now. if I were upgrading I'd probably just bring it up to 8 gigs. I have four slots that'll support 4 gig DDR3, but each stick is like... $120 easily, whereas I am just running 2x2GB sticks I bought together for $45 (although looking up those same sticks, they're now $95. Certainly won't be buying anything until it goes on sale...).
The utility of a motherboard with that much capacity is that I can keep this computer completely modern for 6, 8, maybe 10 years pretty easily. It's a year old, and it still clocks better than any Core2 Quad. any i5, and most i7s, the socket architecture is still in continued use by AMD, and I still put it together for less than an equivalent computer sells for now.
Suck on that, Intel

With anything else, your suspicion would be correct...but with this, it's the guitar aspect, definitely. You have no idea...plus, the fact that I haven't played guitar for two weeks, my longest drought since January during the run-up to LAUSD finals of my Deca year.
Is helping someone pick out a guitar and teaching them how to play something I would do for someone I was interested in that way? Certainly. But it's also something I'm doing for someone I'm not. Just cause I want to.
Besides, I'm giving guitar lessons to one of my exes. That's how much I love it. Because 1 she's an ex, 2 she's absolute crap at it.
