Full Version: How do you pay for Scholar's Cup and who is on your team?
DemiDec Talk > Curriculum > Scholar's Cup
Pima Girl
My school is considering having a Scholar's Cup team next year, but funding has been cut to our school, so we would need to find money.
Scholar's Cup seems pretty expensive so how do you guys pay for it?
Are decathletes typically on the team or is it a different group of kids? Same question about your coach.
Also does anyone know about corporate sponsorship for this kind of thing?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Any help would be appreciated.

scholars cup materials are free; its mainly the travel you are looking at. that should help the budget somewhat.

Hello! Thank you for your interest in the WSC.

Teams vary in terms of whether they are composed of Decathletes or other interested students. Same with coaches.

Many teams find corporate sponsors for their airfare to Worlds.

The registration fee is about $50 per student per tournament. Other than that, materials are free, and the only major cost is transportation.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions, or email contact@scholarscup.org.

and how to find corporate sponsors for airfare???
monica
You might try reaching out to the companies that people's parents work for or finding local companies willing to sponsor you. Maybe you can draft a letter as a team that you can send out to lots of people who might be able to either sponsor you or help you get in touch with somebody who can.
