Genrally, teachers only get yanked out of a classroom like that if there is some form of Moral Turpitude...usually some kind of aleged sexual misconduct or possibly misuse of funds.

I know very few details of this case but I really doubt it involves sexual misconduct or misuse of funds.

No, in LAUSD, they just yank teachers out of the classroom and have them hang out all day in the LAUSD holding room during school days until their case comes up for review. Some teachers are in that room for YEARS. There were some articles about how poorly they handle these cases:

Every day. As long as their case is pending, they get paid to hang out in this holding room. Even if it takes years, they're still paid a full salary for doing absolutely nothing.

I'm sure they've got a volleyball net or a pool table or something. Seems like a good way to spend the money you're earning doing nothing.

Hmm, play pool 8 hours a day for a teachers salary? I'll do it.

They either literally SIT there from 7am to 4pm or they're forced to stuff envelopes and mail stuff out.
Actually...some are forced to stay at home and report every couple of hours.
It's kinda like being under house arrest.

Correction. The "teachers on ice" do exactly jack each day until they are either exonerated or dismissed. And collect full pay. I know of cases that have gone on for years.

This actually seems like torture to me. If I had to go sit in a room all day with nothing to do...AHHHHHH. It seems nice to you to be collecting money for doing nothing...but seriously, how long can an intelligent person sit there and do nothing.

Or doesn't have a wireless network. This
is the California school system we're talking about. Seriously, my high school didn't have one.

That's interesting.
Considering my team was just involved in a scrimmage with Marshall last month.
Edit:
The Marshall Academic Decathlon coach was reinstated on October 7th.

YAY FOR HIM!
Also, I once got to spend 2 weeks crammed into a copy room with six other teachers. All we had then back in '91 was books. The copy room attendants hated on us for always being in their way.

Everyone needs to know that the Marshall coach was cleared of all allegations.
