Region III - the interview questions were weird and several of them were politically charged. I'm not too happy about it.

Where they budget related?
The Evil Dr. Calculus
Yes, and one about global warming.

Yes, and one about global warming.

We got budget ones, but none about global warming. I think those questions should not have been asked. Hopefully no one was penalized for their beliefs.
TheWerg
I heard in LA County they were getting ridiculously broad and generic questions, like "Tell us about yourself". Interview is such a weird event sometimes. Hope it doesn't hurt you, EDC!

Day 2, here we go!

Overall Top Score
Hannah ? Kingman Academy 6,8XX

Speech medals where terrible. Varsity gold was 80X. Silver was in the 750 range. Math was brutal. Our H1 got third overall and only had a 314.7. Top score in science was from our H as well who did not answer 5 questions and got a 720, enough to get gold by almost 100. I will post scores on Monday afternoon when I get a copy of the papers. I would have webcasted, but the awards moved quick so some of us could beat the blizzard that was coming in and would have trapped us in Pinetop if we left any later that 6. It was pretty scary coming south from Flagstaff as it was.

I'd like to give big shout outs to Marana Mountain View for pulling it out, Marana HS for putting in a very good performance, and Sunnyside, whose attitude I love and I want to see improve this year and next.

Sure. The last three members of our team are Jayme Gosney (H) with 7,473, Joseph Horen (S) with 6,971, and Jake Layton (V) with 5,977. They went 5th, 5th, and 9th respectively in our region. Thanks again.

Thanks man. I don't know about 'nation-leading' though.... I'll have to wait for CA before I'll believe that one. Haha, and sorry I never got to talk to you again after Friday night - the rest of the competition just seemed to fly by.

Hari and I had to head back to ASU pretty early, so we never got another chance. I had to miss awards as well, sadly, but I won't miss state (which MP qualified for! Woo!).

I know you called it, but it still can't be fun. The only reason they got second is because North Pointe ate it in a few areas and Prescott and Round Valley choked hard on relay. The 12 on the scorepad at the end of day hurts just to think about.

Thank you! You seem to have John Ernzen's score wrong, though.

By the way, this isn't confirmed or anything but we think there may be a problem with Alice's score. Because in SQ she got all 5 for the relay but then her score sheet says she had a 905, which is impossible with only missing written questions. What we think may have happened (again, all of this is just our own speculation) is that they only counted 4 of the relay questions which would give her a 985 in actuality (which makes more sense anyway, considering how well Alice knows the SQ). Again, I'm not sure if that's what happened but some mistake must have been made somewhere along the line.

There may have been an appeal.
The Evil Dr. Calculus
John, one of the SQ Relay questions was appealed and changed after the relay. It also lowered Seungwoo's score. Thus, both CDO and MVM only got 41 on the relay.

yep her score changed because of the question that was disputed. While it did not affect the teams relay score her official score was changed/updated to reflect the answer change.

Well that explains it then. So you lose all the points if the question is disputed? That seems weird. Do we know what relay one it was specifically? I don't remember second guessing any of those last ones (but at that point we were all just excited to be done wink.gif ).
